I came to Supportive Counselling Ltd looking for support with ADHD, overwhelm and emotional regulation. From the first session, I felt genuinely understood and never judged. The neuro-affirming approach made a huge difference and helped me understand myself in a completely different way. I now feel more confident managing day-to-day challenges and have a better understanding of how ADHD affects me. I would highly recommend Supportive Counselling Ltd to anyone looking for ADHD therapy or neurodivergent counselling in York.

Kat is a patient, kind and sympathetic counsellor with a specialism in neurodiversity, who takes the time to listen to you about a particular aspect of your life that might need more support. I highly recommend her if you are a neurodiverse person looking for post-diagnostic support, or are navigating a particular challenging part of your life. She offers affirming and practical advice, and each session is tailored to your needs. Thanks so much, Kat.

Kat was so easy to talk to, asking questions that led to helpful consideration of the problems I was going through at the time, and in particular helping me to see small steps to move forward. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

Kat is wonderful! We're so glad to have found her as she has been an incredible support to our teenage, AuDHD son who had been struggling with the pressure and overstimulation of secondary school, and then his first year of college. Kat's sessions have been transformational for him. The connection and psychological safety she's created for him (away from the familiarity of home) to release his thoughts, and the coping mechanisms she's equipped him with have enabled him to embrace his individuality and build his confidence to a level that makes me very emotional. His spark is coming back! We're so happy to see him laughing again and talking about his personal challenges without feeling suffocated by them. Another thing we're grateful for is Kat's wider family support and generosity with her time, providing statements for our son's EHCP review and PIP award appeals. We would recommend Kat in a heartbeat!

The impact that Kat has had on my life through our weekly sessions has been life changing. Kat is calm, kind, compassionate, and completely person centered, which has made me feel safe and understood in ways I have never experienced before. I am confident that anyone that has the opportunity to work with Kat, will share my same sentiments. Thank you for all you do, Kat.

Kat is an excellent counsellor, she has really helped me over the past year and makes things that were difficult for me to understand in the past easy to understand.

Counselling in York & the UK that helps you move forward

In 3 simple steps

Your First Session

A calm, introductory chat to understand what you need and ask any questions. There’s no expectation to commit; it’s just space to see if this feels right. You decide the next step.

Your First Session

A calm, steady first meeting where you can share what’s been going on at a pace that feels manageable. You don’t need to prepare anything; we simply begin where you are.

Ongoing Support

Regular sessions shaped around your needs, communication style and pace, guided by you at all times. Support can be in York, online or by telephone, adjusting as things change.

Types Of Sessions

Telephone Counselling

Allows you to talk from a private space that feels comfortable. This option works well if you prefer not to be on camera or if you find it easier to speak without being seen. All sessions remain confidential and secure. We offer telephone counselling throughout the UK; however, please enquire if you are based overseas.

Online Counselling

Takes place via Google Meet, a secure and encrypted platform. You simply need a quiet, private space for your session. Online therapy allows us to see each other and makes it easy for us to share resources, diagrams, or techniques during the session. This service is available across the UK; however, please enquire for overseas availability.

Face-to-face Counselling

We offer face‑to‑face sessions in our welcoming office in central York, just a short walk from the city centre. The building dates back to the 1800s and includes beautiful original features, such as a gold spindle staircase. When you arrive, a friendly receptionist will greet you, and you’ll find a waiting area, toilet facilities, and free water dispensers.
