About Us

Who We Are, What We Do, And How We Make A Difference
We are a team of counsellors and psychotherapists based in York, offering a flexible, client‑led approach. If you’re searching for a counsellor in York, counsellor near me, or therapy York, we provide face-to-face sessions as well as online and telephone counselling across the UK, making private therapy more accessible wherever you are.
Therapy That Adapts To You
Many people come to us after therapy that did not feel helpful. Whether you are looking for an anxiety therapist near me, depression therapist, or support with grief bereavement counselling, we understand that therapy is not one‑size‑fits‑all. Sessions are shaped around you rather than a fixed model, giving you space to work at your own pace.
What Makes Us Different
As a team, we focus on creating a calm, respectful space where you feel listened to and understood. Our approach can be especially supportive for those seeking neurodivergent counselling or who have struggled with traditional therapy.
We aim to offer counselling that feels genuine, flexible, and responsive, whether you are looking for a therapist near me or ongoing therapy support across the UK.

Director & Lead Counsellor and Psychotherapist | York | Children, Adolescents & Adults | Face-to-Face, Online & Telephone
I’m Kat, Director and Lead Counsellor & Psychotherapist, supporting clients through their journey at Supportive Counselling Ltd. I work with children, young people, and adults, offering counselling that adapts to the individual rather than following a fixed model.
Many clients come to me after therapy that didn’t feel right for them. Often, this is because the approach didn’t fit who they are or how they communicate. For this reason, I prioritise creating a calm and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and able to engage at their own pace.
My work is neuro‑affirming and trauma‑informed. In particular, I specialise in neurodivergence, trauma, and sleep support, including nightmares and night terrors. I also offer CBT-I for insomnia treatment. I work collaboratively and adapt to each client, aiming to offer counselling that feels safe, respectful, and meaningful, especially for those who have struggled with traditional therapy.

My counselling journey began through my own experience as a client, where I came to see how powerful it can be to feel genuinely heard and accepted. That experience continues to shape how I work today.
I trained with York Learning before completing a postgraduate diploma in Humanistic Counselling at York St John University, and I have been working with clients since January 2024, supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.

I offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, talk things through, and feel heard without judgement. Therapy with me is steady and unhurried, and we go at your pace, helping you make sense of things and find a more grounded way forward.
Many people value having time each week that’s just for them, away from the pressures of work and family life.

Counsellor & Psychotherapist | Adults | Online & Telephone
I am an integrative relational psychotherapist, which means I believe that our early relationships shape how we think, feel, and relate to others in the present. These experiences can influence how we see ourselves and how we move through the world, sometimes showing up as unspoken expectations or confusing patterns in our relationships.
