Laura Winteringham NCPS(acc), Dip.Couns, CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Couples Counselling
My approach is primarily person-centred, meaning that therapy is guided by your needs, goals and experiences. Where helpful, I also integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy to support meaningful change.
I have particular interests in anxiety, neurodiversity, ME/CFS, chronic illness and relationship difficulties. I work in a neuro-affirming way with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and Tourette syndrome/tics, creating a space where clients can better understand themselves without feeling judged or pressured to change who they are.
Alongside individual therapy, I also offer Couples Therapy and Neurodivergent Couples Therapy. I believe that successful couples work is about creating understanding, connection and positive change within the relationship, rather than changing one person to fit the relationship. I work with both neurotypical and neurodivergent couples, including relationships where one or both partners are autistic or ADHD, helping each person understand differences in communication, needs and experiences.
Having completed further training in trauma-informed practice, I am committed to providing a safe therapeutic space where difficult experiences can be explored at your own pace, with emotional safety and trust at the centre of our work together.
Above all, I believe that therapy works best when built upon a strong therapeutic relationship. My aim is to provide a space where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings, making sense of your experiences and moving towards the life and relationships you want.
