General Questions
How do I know if I need counselling?
You might need counselling if you’re feeling persistently sad, anxious, or overwhelmed, or if life changes like loss or a breakup are hard to manage alone. Struggles in relationships, feeling stuck, or noticing changes in behaviour are also signs that therapy could help. Even if you’re not in crisis, counselling can support personal growth and stress management. If any of this resonates with you, it might be time to consider counselling.
I understand that there can be a stigma around seeing a counsellor, but I want to reassure you that counselling can benefit everyone. Life is challenging and unpredictable for all of us, and counselling offers valuable support to navigate those challenges. Just as we regularly invest time in our outward appearance and well-being, it’s equally important to invest time in our inner selves—after all, this is the part that truly matters.
What is Rewind Trauma Therapy?
Rewind Trauma Therapy is a highly effective technique designed to help individuals with unresolved trauma by stopping the involuntary recall of traumatic memories. Unlike traditional counselling, Rewind Therapy does not require clients to talk about their traumatic experiences in detail, making it a gentle, non-intrusive, and safe approach.
I am a member of IARTT (International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy).
I have been professionally trained in Rewind Trauma Therapy by Dr. David Muss. He developed the Rewind technique over 30 years ago as a way to effectively treat trauma without requiring clients to repeatedly relive their distressing experiences. Research and clinical practice have shown that Rewind Therapy has a high success rate, with studies reporting that around 90% of individuals experience significant reductions in trauma symptoms after one treatment.
This method works by guiding clients into a deeply relaxed state and using mental imagery to “rewind” and reprocess traumatic memories. The goal is to store these memories in a way that prevents them from triggering unwanted flashbacks, nightmares, or anxiety.
One of the key benefits of Rewind Therapy is its ability to rapidly reduce symptoms, often in as little as three sessions for a single trauma. This therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or integrated alongside counselling, providing flexibility in how individuals choose to heal. Rewind Therapy allows individuals to process trauma without reliving the distress, making it a comfortable and effective path to recovery.
I need immediate help, or I am worried about someone, what do I do?

What can I expect during the free consultation chat?
We talk about what has made you decide to look for counselling and what you would like to get from it. This helps us see if counselling is the right thing for you. You can ask as many questions as you want in this call, and if you want to book in, you can, if not you can go away and think about it. There’s no pressure or expectation for you to book straight in at the end of the call.
What happens in a counselling session?

How does online counselling work?
If you choose online counselling with Supportive Counselling, you’ll receive a secure, encrypted session link each week, starting at your scheduled time. It’s a good idea to join 5 minutes early to check your microphone and camera settings. You can access the session from a phone, laptop, tablet, or PC. I recommend finding a comfortable, private space where you won’t be overheard.
How many sessions will I need and how often?
I offer sessions either weekly or fortnightly, depending on what feels most manageable for you—after all, this is a commitment of your time. These regular frequencies help maintain a steady therapeutic flow and support meaningful progress.
Each person is unique, so our sessions are flexible and tailored to your needs. There’s no set agenda or strict time limit—it’s all about what works best for you. We’ll check in and review our progress together periodically to ensure you’re getting the most out of our time.
To maximise the benefits of our sessions, it’s important to arrive on time. If you are late due to unforeseen circumstances, the session will still need to end at the agreed-upon time due to the next appointment or room booking commitments.
What do I do if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel a session, please let me know as soon as you can. I do not charge for a cancellation that has been made over 24 hours prior the session. If you notify me in less than 24 hours prior to the session that you can’t attend the session fee will still apply.
Will counselling with you be recorded in my medical history with my GP?
Your contact with Supportive Counselling is completely confidential, and we don’t inform your GP that you’ve had counselling with us. The only exception would be if we ever had serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others. Even then, we would handle the situation with great care and involve you as much as possible in any decisions.
