Couples Therapy
Gentle, grounded support to help you reconnect and communicate
Relationships can be one of the most rewarding parts of life, but they can also be challenging. Sometimes couples find themselves having the same conversations repeatedly, feeling disconnected from one another or struggling to understand why things have become difficult.
At Supportive Counselling Ltd, we offer Couples Therapy, Relationship Counselling and Marriage Counselling for couples who want to improve communication, understand each other more deeply and build a healthier, stronger relationship.
You do not have to be at crisis point to attend couples therapy. Many couples choose to seek support because they want to strengthen their relationship, work through ongoing difficulties or create positive change together.
What Is Couples Therapy?
Couples Therapy provides a safe and supportive space where both partners can explore relationship difficulties together.
Rather than focusing on blame or deciding who is right or wrong, therapy helps couples understand recurring patterns, improve communication and find new ways of responding to challenges.
For some couples, this may involve rebuilding trust following a difficult experience. For others, it may mean working through communication difficulties, navigating life changes or reconnecting emotionally after feeling distant for some time.
The aim is always to help both partners feel heard, understood and respected.
Why Do Couples Seek Therapy?
Many couples come to therapy because they feel stuck.
You may find yourselves having the same arguments over and over again, struggling to communicate effectively or feeling more like housemates than partners. Life events such as becoming parents, changes in health, work pressures, family difficulties or bereavement can also place strain on relationships.
Sometimes couples attend therapy because they are considering separation. Others simply want support to strengthen a relationship that is already important to them.
Whatever has brought you here, therapy offers a space to slow things down, understand what is happening and explore a way forward together.

Couples Therapy with Laura
Couples Therapy is provided by Laura, a Counsellor and Psychotherapist who works with both individuals and couples.
Laura’s approach is primarily person-centred, meaning that therapy is guided by your needs, goals and experiences. Where helpful, she also integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy to support meaningful change.
Laura believes that successful couples work is about creating understanding, connection and positive change within the relationship, rather than changing one person to fit it.
Alongside Couples Therapy, Laura also offers Neurodivergent Couples Therapy, supporting couples where one or both partners are autistic, ADHD or otherwise neurodivergent.
You can learn more about Laura on her profile page.
Individual Relationship Support
Sometimes only one partner wishes to attend therapy.
If your partner is unable or unwilling to attend, individual counselling can still help you explore relationship difficulties, communication patterns and the challenges you are facing.
Many people find individual therapy invaluable when trying to understand themselves, their relationships and their next steps.
ADHD and Autism in Relationships
ADHD and autism can shape communication, sensory needs and emotional rhythms in ways that sometimes feel confusing for both partners, and neurodivergent couples therapy offers a calm, structured space to understand these differences with clarity, compassion and less overwhelm.

FAQ's

Who is sleep therapy for?
Sleep therapy is helpful for anyone experiencing ongoing difficulties with rest, whether that’s trouble falling asleep, waking frequently, or feeling unrefreshed. People often begin by searching for insomnia treatment, sleep therapists, or a sleep consultant UK when they’re unsure where to turn.
Support may include sleep relaxation strategies, CBT for insomnia treatment, or guidance from a therapist for sleep disorders. These approaches can be especially useful if you’ve already tried self‑help methods or general sleep services without success.
If you’ve been looking for private sleep support, a sleep consultant, or a sleep expert near me, sleep therapy offers a personalised, evidence‑based way to understand your sleep patterns and make meaningful, lasting changes.
What happens in the free consultation chat?
During the free consultation chat, we talk about what has made you consider counselling and what you’re hoping to get from support. This helps us understand whether counselling feels right for you and which approach may suit you best. You’re welcome to ask as many questions as you like, and there’s no pressure to book a session straight away. You can take your time to think things over and decide at your own pace.
