Nicola Willmott
Counsellor | York | Children, Adolescents & Adults | Face-to-Face, Online & Telephone
I am an integrative counsellor working with adults, young people and children, offering a warm, supportive and compassionate space where clients can feel safe to be themselves without fear of judgement. I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult, and I aim to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted.

I work in a collaborative and neuro-affirming way, recognising that every person experiences the world differently and that therapy should be adapted to suit the individual. My approach is primarily person-centred, while also integrating elements of CBT, creative and mindfulness approaches where helpful. This allows me to tailor sessions to each client’s individual needs, communication style and goals.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including autistic clients and those with ADHD, alongside clients experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, burnout, trauma, relationship difficulties, and emotional regulation challenges. Alongside private practice, I have experience working within schools supporting children and young people with a wide range of emotional and behavioural needs.
When working with me, clients can expect a calm, empathetic, and authentic approach. I believe therapy works best when people feel comfortable enough to speak openly, explore their experiences at their own pace, and feel supported to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives.
