About Me

Biography

Hello, my name is Kat, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself and share some of my journey. My diverse background spans working in school, graphic design, and beauty therapy, but it’s my rich life experiences that truly shaped my path to becoming a counsellor. This blend of professional and personal experiences fuels my passion for helping others, and I am deeply committed to supporting my clients.

As a mum to neurodivergence, I have a drive and dedication to this area, which has led me to immerse myself in learning and specialising in neurodivergence for many years.

For those interested in the meaning behind my logo, the iris flower is significant to Supportive Counselling. It symbolises faith, courage, hope, and wisdom, reflecting the qualities of my clients and the belief that everyone has the inner resources to overcome challenges. With the right support, these strengths can be unlocked.

When I’m Not At Work

When I’m not counselling, I volunteer as a Samaritan, offering telephone support because I am passionate about suicide awareness and prevention. This commitment also inspired me to further my studies in the ripple effects of suicide on those affected.

For my self-care, I love nothing more than relaxing with a good book in the sunshine. I also enjoy the challenge of growing organic vegetables and fruits, even with the unpredictable weather! Creativity has always been a cornerstone of my life and often finds its way into my counselling sessions, providing a unique way for clients to express their emotions. Being a mum keeps me busy and enriches my life with joy and activity.

I have a dog that I trained as an autism assistance dog. She started as a rescue puppy and was featured in a celebratory book by Dogs Trust.

My Approach

I believe everyone deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life. Through a humanistic, person-centred approach, I provide a safe and supportive space where you can talk freely, understand yourself better, and make positive changes. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, helping you realise your full potential. My approach is non-directive, and I work alongside you, offering support and providing a safe space throughout your journey.

Life can be unpredictable, but working together, you can choose how to respond to its challenges. My compassionate, non-judgemental approach will help you embrace acceptance and harness your power of choice, guiding you to handle whatever comes your way.

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.
